Well, in the past few weeks (or so) not much has happened with me, but Cody's had a whirlwind of a time. He was taking an anti-depressant to help him quit smoking but he wound up being allergic to it! His entire body broke out in a rash and he was itchy all over so much that he couldn't sleep! Cody decided it was time he quit smoking. So he went to the medic on base because he knew he could get a prescription to help him quit easier (which for being in the stressful situation he's in was pretty much necessary if he was really going to have an opportunity to quit). He was prescribed Wellbutrin, an anti-depressant. He was taking it for about a week with no problem then one day he gets a rash all over his body. He was so itchy he couldn't sleep. So they told him to stop taking the Welbutrin and gave him some fluids to help get rid of the rash and itching. They only helped so much. The itching continued. So the medics filled him in on what they believed was happening. He had an allergic reaction to the Welbutrib, but this was only the second case they had seen. The first case they didn't catch it in time and the soldier had to have a kidney transplant. So they recognized that it wasn't something they should take lightly. They made a plan to do a routine medivac to BAF (Bagram Airforce Base) since they have a hospital and appropriate equipment. Well, a few mornings ago, Cody woke up with a swollen face and almost swollen shut eyes. He went to the medics and they immediately gave him some fluids to stop the swelling and bumped his routine medivac up to a priority. So within a few hours, he was on a helicopter to BAF. They made one stop to his home base then got to BAF. Well, they decided he was better off in Germany so they flew him there to a hospital where he is staying for a few days just to be sure all the Welbutrin is out of his system and to do a few tests to see if he's allergic to any other medications.
He called me to let me know everything was okay and that he was all settled in for the few days. They gave him a calling card and everything to call home :)
And as of today he's hoping he'll be out-processing tomorrow so he can be on a flight back to base by Friday or Saturday.
He hasn't had any attacks for about three ish days so hopefully he'll be out of the outpatient ward soon! Don't get me wrong, having plenty of time to talk to him has been AMAZING, but I know he's anxious to get out of that room. He's definitely not the type to just sit around and wait for things. He has to be up and around and moving and doing something.

This was earlier. He said this is what their St. Patty's day party consisted of. This and food. Haha! |
I've sent him another care package that he'll hopefully get son after his birthday! I was a little late in sending it due to some financial problems, but I made it at least before his birthday!
Oliver's now clapping and doing a lot of conversational babbling :D. Aaaaaan he's doing some high fives! He's also eating pureed-ish green beans with his brown rice cereal and loving it! I'm thinking of doing carrots next.
I made another cupcake about a week or so ago. Pink lemonade! I'm hoping to make a cupcake a week from tomorrow on so I can at least have a routine with that. Even if I give most of them away, I don't mind. I just love making cupcakes now.
Anyway! Army wives is on now and Coming Home is on next! And I have to get Oliver to bed before it gets much later.
Have a good night!
